Accessibility Statement
Last Updated: April 10, 2026
1. Our Commitment
MegDB.Com is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities, including those who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, voice control software, switch access devices and screen magnification tools.
We believe everyone deserves equal access to information about movies, TV shows and streaming services, regardless of ability or disability. Accessibility is an ongoing part of how we design and develop MegDB.Com — not an afterthought.
2. Conformance Status
MegDB.Com is partially conformantwith the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA. “Partially conformant” means that some parts of the content do not yet fully conform to the standard. We are actively working to achieve full Level AA conformance across all pages.
Standard: WCAG 2.2 (published 5 October 2023)
Target Level: AA (87 success criteria)
Specification: w3.org/TR/WCAG22
Applicable regulations (as of April 2026):
- European Accessibility Act (EAA) — Directive (EU) 2019/882 (implementation deadline 28 June 2025)
- EN 301 549 v3.2.1 (European harmonised standard)
- Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) — DOJ Web Accessibility Rule (effective March 2026)
- Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act (US federal)
3. Accessibility Features Implemented
Navigation and Structure
- Logical heading hierarchy (H1 → H2 → H3) for screen reader navigation
- All pages accessible by keyboard alone (Tab, Shift+Tab, Enter, Space, Arrow keys)
- Visible focus indicators on all interactive elements
- Landmark roles (
main,nav,footer) properly applied
Visual Design
- Colour contrast meets WCAG 2.2 AA minimum: 4.5:1 for body text, 3:1 for large text
- Text resizable up to 200 % without loss of content or functionality
- Fully responsive layout from 320 px upward
- Colour is not the sole means of conveying information
Images and Media
- All meaningful images have descriptive
altattributes (title + year) - Decorative images use
alt=""to be ignored by screen readers - Trailers are not autoplay; they require explicit user action
Interactive Elements
- All buttons, links and form controls have accessible names
- Minimum touch target size of 44×44 px (WCAG 2.2 SC 2.5.8)
- Actions occur on pointer-up/click, not pointer-down
- Error messages announced to screen readers via ARIA roles
Content
- Language attribute
lang="en"set on the HTML element - Unique and descriptive page titles on every page
- Meaningful link text in context (no “click here” or “read more”)
4. Known Limitations
The following areas are not yet fully conformant. We are committed to addressing these in upcoming releases.
TMDb Poster Images
Poster and backdrop images are sourced from TMDb. While we provide title / year alt text, some complex promotional artwork may not have full visual descriptions. We are working on expanded alt text. Target: Q2 2026
YouTube Trailer Player
Embedded YouTube trailers use YouTube's own player. Accessibility of the player is dependent on Google's implementation. We recommend using YouTube's built-in keyboard shortcuts and closed captions within the player.
Complex Filter Interactions
Advanced filter interactions (genre, year, provider) are keyboard-accessible but may require additional orientation time for screen reader users. Improved ARIA live region feedback is in development. Target: Q2 2026
5. Assistive Technology Tested
- NVDA + Chrome (Windows)
- VoiceOver + Safari (macOS / iOS)
- TalkBack (Android)
- Keyboard-only navigation in Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge
- 200 % browser zoom (content reflows correctly)
- Windows High Contrast Mode
6. Assessment Approach
MegDB.Com's accessibility is assessed through:
- Developer accessibility checks during every feature build
- Periodic manual audits using screen readers and keyboard-only navigation
- Automated accessibility linting tools integrated into the development workflow
- User feedback (see below)
7. Report an Accessibility Barrier
We actively want to hear about accessibility barriers you encounter. If you find something that does not work as expected with your assistive technology, or if you believe a page does not meet the standards described above, please contact us.
